First-half.

Kick-off United.

3 Chance First shot of the game comes from an unlikely source, Branislav Ivanovic. The Serb got forward and tried to cross, but when his pass was cut out he had another bite at the cherry, but the goalbound effort is a little tame and easy for Van der Sar.

10 Close Rooney hits the side-netting for United, after rolling Carvalho inside the area. It should be a goal-kick but ref Martin Atkinson awards a corner, which is headed over by Fletcher.

17 Wayward Michael Ballack does well to pick out Didier Drogba with a cross, but the striker's header is well off-target.

27 Target Anelka finds himself in space 30 yards out and opts to shoot low. It's fairly well-struck but comfortable enough for Van der Sar who holds on. At the other end Giggs loops a volley over the bar after Fletcher had sent a long ball forward.

30 Surge Carrick breaks forward from the United midfield, and shoots straight at Petr Cech from distance. It was never likely to beat the keeper.
31 Save Superb stop from Van der Sar, pushing Anelka's curling left-footed shot away from goal.

38 Injury John Terry takes a knock in a rather sensitive area, from his own man, after a collision with Ashley Cole. After treatment, he is fine to continue.
44 Waste Drogba gets into a decent shooting position after spinning Evra, but fires high and wide.

Second-half.

Kick-off Chelsea.

46 Over First chance of the second period goes to United's Darren Fletcher, whose shot goes a long way over the crossbar, from some 25 yards.

50 Wide Another sight at goal for Drogba, who brings down Cech's long ball perfectly, turns his man and instinctively shoots from 30 yards, skewing it a few feet wide.
57 Yellow card Ivanovic is the first man into the book for a foul on Giggs. Replays show he clipped the ball first. Carvalho makes a superb block from Fletcher.

62 Chelsea substitution Birthday boy Joe Cole is on for Deco in a straight swap.

66 Danger Very, very close. Rooney receives a lay-off from Valencia and unleashes a powerful low drive, that goes about a foot wide of Cech's right-hand post.

67 Save Rooney is red-hot right now, and Cech has to perform an acrobatic save to keep him out, pushing his curling shot over. Drogba clears the corner, and then Carvalho blocks the United forward again.
72 Injury Treatment for Drogba after an aerial collision between his chest and the studs of Johnny Evans. Looks nasty. To literally add insult to injury, Drogba is booked for his challenge.

75 CHELSEA GOAL Lampard whips in a free-kick from the left, Terry heads it goalwards and into the corner, and it may have hit Anelka on the way in. Who cares who scored it? Chelsea lead.
81 Yellow cards Carvalho is booked for playing on after the whistle, Evans for clattering the Portuguese for doing so.
82 Chelsea substitution Salomon Kalou replaces Drogba, who is in no rush to leave the field.

83 Miss not a good few minutes for Evans, who shoots wide from a corner.
84 United substitutions Michael Owen is on for Anderson, Gabriel Obertan replaces Giggs.
87 Abused Valencia is booked for a hack on Lampard.
Stoppage time 5 mins.
90+3 Chelsea substitution Alex is on for Anelka to shore things up at the back, after Ivanovic does brilliantly to head a dangerous United cross behind for a corner.

Comment
This was our 11th consecutive home win, equalling our club record set in 2006.
Chelsea extended our unbeaten run against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge to nine games since the Red Devils last won here in 2002.
They have not beaten the Blues at Stamford Bridge in the Abramovich era. Paul Scholes, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunner Solskjaer scored the last time Man U came away from SW6 with three points, in April 2002.
Chelsea also extended our top-flight record to nine successive clean sheets in all competitions at Stamford Bridge. Our previous top flight record of seven was set in 1999/2000. Our all-time home record is 10 set over 1926/27 (last eight) and 1927/28 (first two) when we were in the old Second Division.
Didier Drogba still hasn't scored a Premier League goal against Man U in eight appearances. The Ivorian needs two more goals to equal our eighth highest scorer George Hilsdon who scored 108 goals between 1906 and 1912.
Joe Cole celebrated his 28th birthday today. His substitute appearance marked his 250th appearance for the Blues.
Today was a terrific, hard-fought victory for the Blues, just edging the midfield battle where United had set up with five across the park. Having initially struggled to get on top, the Blues grew into the game and eventually earned the three points.
