How To Improve In Public Speaking...
Organizing our thoughts logically and the most persuasive manner. To successfully deliver our message, ones will organize their messages systematically, step by step to make the listener understand the message.
Tailoring the messages to the audience. Ones will think deeply trying to send the messages efficiently and show them how importance the issue to the people in that particular room.
Telling story for the maximum impact. Instead of telling directly the messages, ones usually built up some story telling, adjusting words and tone of voice to enhance the effectiveness of the messages.
Adapting to the listener feedback. Whenever we talk to someone, we will be aware with the person's verbal, facial, and physical reaction.
There are three (3) major differences between daily conversation and public speaking:
Public speaking is more highly structured.
It usually imposes strict time limitations on the speakers. In most cases, the situation does not allow listener to interrupt with question or commentary. The speaker must accomplish her or his purposes in the speech itself. In preparing the speech, the speaker must anticipate questions that might arise in the mind of listener and answers them. Consequently, public speaking demands mush more detailed planning and preparation than ordinary conversation.
Public speaking required more formal language.�
Slang, jargon and bad grammar have a little place in public speeches. The listeners usually react negatively to the speakers who do not elevate and polish their language when addressing the audience.
Public speaking requires different methods of delivery.
When conversing informally, most of the people talk quietly, interjects stock phrases such as "like" and "you know", adopt a casual posture and use what are called vocalized pauses ("uh," "er," "um"
. Effective public speakers, however adjust their voices to be heard clearly throughout the audience. They assume a more erect posture. They avoid distracting mannerisms and verbal habits.
Ice Has More Bacteria Than Toilet Water
You’d think toilets were full of bacteria, right? Well, 12-year-old Jasmine Roberts, a smart 7th grade student in Tampa, Florida hit upon a startling discovery as part of her winning science fair project.
She compared the ice used in sodas and other drinks with the water from the toilet bowls in the same fast food restaurants. She was shocked by the results.
The ice served in soft drinks and other beverages at fast food restaurants had more bacteria than water from the same restaurant’s toilet! Not only that, but 70 percent of the time, the ice had more bacteria than the toilet water.
Jasmine had the water tested at a lab at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, where she volunteers with a USF professor. Ice in three of the five restaurants tested positive for fecal coliform or E. coli, organisms that come from the feces of warmblooded animals!
As the Tampa newspaper pointed out, symptoms, “related to the presence of coliform include cramps and diarrhea. E. coli can cause intestinal illness and, in rare cases, hemolytic uremic syndrome, a serious kidney condition.”
“I thought there might be a little bacteria in the ice, but I never expected it to be this much,” Jasmine told the Tampa Bay News, “ And I never thought the toilet water would be cleaner.”
Therefore as a safe option lets drink boiled or warm water for safe health
Tips To Prevent Phishing
Phishing (pronounced as 'fishing') is an attempt at fraud based on theft of the identity of a trusted person or organization, for the purpose of stealing personal information.Phishing is typically carried out by e-mail or instant messaging and it often directs users to enter details at a website. Common techniques include receiving email with links to the fraud website, which looks similar to the real website, and asking users to enter usernames and passwords.
The usernames and passwords will be captured and used for fraudulent and malicious purposes. In addition, there is also phone-phishing technique, in which critical information is revealed over the phone.Phishers may also use spyware and other malicious code unknowingly installed in your computer to retrieve such information.
Tips to prevent phishing
1.Do not click on the link given by emails if you do not know the sender
2. Check the URL or address of the website to confirm it is a legitimate website. If in doubt, please call the customer care or helpdesk of the relevant website.
3. Should you receive any call from unknown and unverified sources, please dismiss the call and get clarifications from the service provider by calling the customer care or yr helpdesk.
4. Be extra careful of pop-up warnings that appear while you're surfing the Web. Unscrupulous companies use pop-up advertisements to display false warnings about your computer. Do NOT click any button in these pop-ups.Doing so might install a virus or other malicious software on your computer.
5. Make a point to 'bookmark' the websites that you use most and use those bookmarks to access the sites for transaction

Information Technology and its abuse by well educated people has brought about new problems in our everyday lives. Clever hackers and IT savvy thieves are getting very creative in new methods of committing crime. Just as it has made our lives easy , the devices and gadgets we use have made us complacent. Locks and alarms are useless if those using them do not know how to take added precautions.
This gives us something to think about with all our new electronic technology.
The examples below can apply to any Country and the methods and devices are similar to what we have and what can go wrong in other Countries will go wrong here too. Read on ... ..
GPS
A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that someone she knew had their car broken into while they were at a football match. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard.
When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen.
The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean out the house.
It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents.

MOBILE PHONE
I never thought of this... ... ...
This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet... Etc... was stolen.
20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.' When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

Lesson Learned:
Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc... ... And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back.
Also, when you're being text by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them.If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet 'family and friends' who text you.

Suspension bridge tragedy: 19 safe, 2 missing, one dead

KAMPAR, Tues: Police have confirmed that of the 22 pupils feared drowned after a suspension bridge collapsed over the Kampar river last night; 19 have been accounted for, two are still missing and the body of a pupil has been recovered.
The tragedy occurred during a school camping trip in Kuala Dipang near Ipoh.
Police said the body of Dina Deve a/p Nathan was found at 8.40am today and 19 other pupils earlier feared drowned were safe.
The search and rescue operation involved 222 personnel led by the police, with assistance from the General Operations Force, navy, fire and rescue department, People's Volunteer Corps (Rela), Civil Defence Department and other agencies.
The pupils were among 298 from 60 primary schools in Kampar, Tronoh and Batu Gajah who were to participate in a 1Malaysia camp organised by the Kinta Selatan District Education Department starting today.
They had come yesterday for the registration and were walking across the bridge from the campsite to the school to have their dinner when the accident happened.
Parents of the pupils rushed to the school upon hearing news of the accident, and several of them became angry when they could not confirm the safety of their children even as late as 3am.
A pupil, K. Mathivanan, 12, said the bridge collapsed all of a sudden when about 30 to 50 pupils were on it, some walking to the school and others returning to the campsite.
He said the bridge had swayed a lot before it collapsed as several of the pupils were jumping about and playing with one another.
"All of a sudden, we found ourselves thrown into the river. I managed to hold on to a rope. The current was swift but I managed to drag myself out of the water," he said.
The bridge, about 50 metres long, was built about two weeks ago to replace an old one which had collapsed, said a member of the school's Parent-Teacher Association.
A teacher, Mohd Safri Abdul Rafar, said he was not far from the bridge when it collapsed and quickly jumped over a fence and dived into the river in the attempt to rescue the pupils.
"I managed to pull out three or four pupils. The current was swift and I almost got dragged away," he said. Safri said he went into the river again and pulled out five more pupils.
A guard of the school, who identified himself as Idris, said he pulled out six pupils from the river.
Safri said he was sad that he could not rescue a pupil who had held onto a metal cable before being dragged away by the current.
Twenty-three teachers were involved in the camp, the second to be organised by the Kinta Selatan district education department after the first one held at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Pos Raya last week.
Similar camps were to be held simultaneously today in the Larut, Matang and Selama as well as Manjung district, said Safri, adding that the pupils were from all races and the aim of the camp was to foster unity and interaction through activities such as traditional cooking, cultural training and games.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir visited the scene of the accident last night and ordered an immediate investigation.
"The suspension bridge was newly built. We want to know if it was built to specifications as it collapsed after a metal pillar got ripped off the ground," he said.
A metal pillar and its concrete block foundation was ripped off the ground in the incident and part of the bridge walkway was afloat on the river.
The Kampar River is known for extreme water sports. The part of the river where the bridge collapsed is about 30 metres wide and 1.5 metres deep. -- BERNAMA
